Lily and her new dolly

One of the perks of being sisters to the very talented pint chick is that you get little pressies like this in the mail, well, really it's for Lily to wear but for me to admire!!
As you can see Lily loves it and I couldn't get her to leave her tshirt down to take a photo of it, but it can be found in more detail on Megsie's blog. Lily wore this out down to the local shops and told the lady in the fabric store, "Megsie painted my dolly." It was interesting that her first response when I told her that Megsie had made it for her was, "Megsie painted it?" complete with the cute little raise in her voice intonation that heralds her questions. LOL AFter spending time in Adelaide watching Megsie paint, that's the association she has of her.
Any way, it is very cute and the mad doll fiend Lily loves it :D

World Oceans Day

Today is World Oceans Day

sooo

we're planning a little stocking with an ocean based theme.

I am planning to stock on the tide times, with previews to be up by high tide here at the Port Phillip heads (5:11pm) and stocking at high time in Geelong (8:27pm)

This are in Victorian times. :D

Given that we live by the beach and Andy is an underwater film maker, you could safely assume that the ocean is fairly important part of our life. I actually prefer the ocean in the cooler months when it is less crowded and I think more beautiful in its moods.

Lily loved watching me do these appliques, she wanted me to do a dolphin next but I didn't get enough time... maybe I will anyway. I am absolutely in love with the boysenberry velour polar fleece, the colour is so bright and vibrant! I've been working on three pairs in this colour this week, including a custom which is just about done :D I think Lily needs some pants in this colour.

Remember respect our waterways, eat only sustainably fished seafood and enjoy the beauty of the ocean.

I love Wednesday nights :D

Wednesdays are always..mostly...generally my night, I don't sew and it's the only night I actually sit down and watch tv. I guess it's what you would call my day/night off. Tonight we're sitting down after a lovely pumpkin pasta dish (even though I forgot the garlic *oops*) to enjoy our usual Wednesday night viewing of Spicks and Specks and The Chasers War on Everything and the following show too if it's a good one (I always forget what it is as it seems to change a lot LOL)
One of the reasons I really look forward to Wednesday night is that it is also knitting night. I really don't get to knit as much as I'd like these days, I need to take my knitting with me more places and pull it out whenever I get the chance. Fine if you're doing something straightforward like longies or some stocking but when you're doing cables or a finicky pattern, not so easy LOL So I've decided to have an easy pattern on the go at all times.
Tonight my aim is to get through the zigzag rib of the Jo Sharp vest I'm doing; I'm doing the version with 46 rows of rib, not a lot but the cable needle does get pretty constant use. I actually had to go out and buy a new cable needle today, I couldn't find my one with the dip in it, I only had a straight one. I like the dips much better. Once that is done, I'd like to swatch up for my Miss Marigold so I can order my needles for that tomorrow.

So off to knit now and shall take some progress pics of my knits later on. :D

There's just something about Australiana..

that made this little gem impossible to resist from the op shop.

Tomorrow is my BIL Lachie's birthday and how stoked am I that I found this stunning jumper for him just in time, obviously I won't have it knitted by tomorrow but hey the thought is there and I'm sure he'll appreciate it. I mean just look at it, what red-blooded Aussie male wouldn't?

Just kidding folks, Lachie would probably vomit if I made that for him LOL

Here are some other vomitworthy contenders:
check out the leg warmers and matching cardy, in particular the fluffy sheep pockets

Seriously no one could have possibly knitted this pattern!!!!

And this is just wrong on so many levels I can't even beginto start

I've often considered mixing fabric and wool, but not quite like this!!

And what about some lovely homewares?

And finally Miss Fashionista consents

to wearing her new overalls, well actually, it's been too cold to wear them with just a long sleeved tee until today. She's even got a spencer on under her long sleeved tee here. I'm a little smitten with these, and a little proud of them. Lily looks sooo adorable in them it brings tears to my eyes. I'm pretty lucky to have such an adorable little model, she makes anything look good.
These got the stamp of approval on our trip down the street today, there were a group of teenage girls that were oohing and ahhing over Lily and her overalls as we walked towards them, I could hear them saying, "Ooh look at that""how cute is she" "ooh the overalls are gorgeous" and then when we walked past "aww, look at the pockets".. that made me feel sooo good :D

My KAL sweater done ~ wicked!!!

Gee it feels good to have finally finished this sweater. When I first tried it on (with pj, dodgy old tshirt and no bra) I didn't like it and was disappointed with the fit, so didn't bother rushing to weave in the ends and block the pocket and the jumper. Then I tried it on with my jeans and love it, there aren't many jumpers I like with jeans to be honest. It's quite a good length, even though I umm and ahh as to whether or not it is too short. here I am wearing it with hipsters, and a long tshirt and it actually covers the top of my very low hipsters so I'm happy with that. I think it will become a favourite :D Andy says it awesome, so that's all I need!!! LOL

Oh, and I wasn't sure about the pocket either until i blocked and whip stitched it on, it sits really flat on this, and I looove it.

Next up: Jo Sharp zig zag vest in Jo Sharp DK wool Oak.
