another twirly skirt

I'm resisting the temptation to keep this for Lily even though I know it would fit her and she would love it. I just love a red and denim combination :D I can see this with some little boots and either a cute little shirt or a snuggly jumper (see if I kept it for Lily I'd probably talk myself into knitting her a jumper to match. ~oooh the temptation)

A real twirly skirt

At Megsie's suggestion, I decided to make some more peasant style skirts but for winter. This is the first one up. It's a mix of ruby red cord, denim with embroidered butterflies and and red and pinkish patterned cord. Both cords are pinwale, my favourite!! It's a very full skirt, really great for twirling.

I think I might make one for me!!!

And something for Miss Lily

I LOOOVE overalls, I even have a favourite pair of my own that I wear ;) I really like overalls on littlies, I think it's partly because I have fond memories of the Hoppers ones my mum used to dress me in as a kid, my favourite pair were a bright yellow pair.
Lily had a lovely pair of overalls as a bub, Asher has them now. But some of the other ones that have been handed down to her are a bit hmmmm... so I thought why don't I make her some? I approached this a little hesitantly, as sometimes homemade overalls can be a bit wrong... it really all depends on the cut and style. I think for homemade a 70s sort of cut works best, as it plays on a funky look.
Anyway, these are Lily's new overalls in denim. The fabric on the inner and pockets is an Ikea print that Megsie gave me. I wanted to used a fabric that was fairly gender neutral and could be mixed with any colour, originally I was just going to use it for the lining but it just seemed to work really well on the pockets so they got added too. Of course, it had to be finished off with bright yellow matching buttons. Yellow ricrac would have been pretty cute on the pockets, but I decided against it as this will get handed down to Asher Basher and I think the ric rac would be a bit girly.
They fit really well but as she only tried them on last night as I was getting the buttons positioned I don't have a picture of her in them, hopefully tomorrow she will deign to wear them. :D

And a new pinnie for Lily for the new season.. green denim with pink spotted lining and three pink butterflies appliqued on the front. Their antennaes are done in ric rac and it's finished with a pink trail to show where the butterflies are flying and bright pink buttons. Again no action shots yet, but it's really cute on. Lily refused to wear it today as it wasn't pink.... oh dear what have I created LOL

A special custom

Three pairs of pants for three gorgeous little sisters. I wanted them to be individual, and very different to each other. The brief was for something girlie but able to be worn with different things. I love all three of these fabrics , I hope the girls lik them :D

Sometimes things get a bit forgotten....

I made this little reversible dress as part of a special custom some time ago. Of course, Lily also got one as I needed to create a new pattern. Hers is bright pink one side and has a Nancy Wolf teapot quilters fabric on the other side, but try as I might I couldn't find a picture of her in it. Might make her wear it tomorrow so I can take a photo. I meant to make some more of these, I even bought some fabrics specially for it and still have the set aside. I need to reduce my fabric stash, so I think it is high time I did some of these and some other little numbers to use up more of my quilters cotton. LOL
I've been trolling through some old photos lately looking for inspiration from past items, and finding things I've made one or two of and never more. Sometimes I just need to do some different things to keep the creative flow happening. So I guess there might be a few little different oddities on the horizons, some old styles being renewed and developed.

And some pants

And finally something for the bigger kiddies. I thought as I was upsizing my pattern for Emily and Caitlyn I might make some for the store as well. So here they are,

Butterfly Flutter By Flared Pants ~ Size 4
pockets made with Robert Kaufman's Memoirs from China

Shells Wide Leg Pants ~ Size 3
Andover quilting fabric used for the pockets

Fleece longies .. at last

It's been a lot of fun making these again!! I made sooo many last year, I sort of got sick of them, but it's been lots of fun doing them again. Anyway they go live tonight at 9pm SA time... might sneak in a custom or two at the end of the weekend to inspire me for some different applique designs ~ I think fairly simple and stark is best. :D

Fleece longies in the works..

Gosh, I wonder how many fleece longies I have made over the year and a bit I've been doing them LOL

Well, I've been promising more for quite awhile so thought I best make good with my promise. So previewing two pairs here, they are two different legs to two different pairs you can see. Mismatched Love and Stars and Stripes. These two are finished ~ and I have a few more in the works. Maybe a stock Friday night with Megsie. ;)

Been a while...

Gosh, so much seems to have been going on here but not that much really... if that makes sense. I seem to be sewing but not really accomplishing much. I'm trying to make some clothes for Lily as she is toilet learning and only wearing nappies outside of the house sometimes, that and the fact that she has grown substantially taller means that many of her trousers are either too big or too short.

Feeling the cord love again I made her these ruby red flared cords, mmm. The pockets are a blue drill trimmed with a vintage ribbon. Shame they don't really go with the brown hoodie but oh well, she's happy.

I also have in the works for her a green denim pinnie and a pair of denim overalls, very funky, but both need some buttons to be finished off.

Also been doing some customs and instocks. Here's a sneak peak of three pants; 2 are instocks and one are a custom. Gosh, they are gorgeous fabrics!!!

And a little something I made earlier

I made this little dress about September last year, I was playing around with an idea I had but shelved it as I decided I didn't really like it. So it has hung in Lily's overstuffed cupboard ever since then and she might have worn it once or twice. Anyway, today she decided she'd like to wear it. And you know, I think I like it now!!! LOL It teams really well with her size 0 red pants that are now capris ~ not sure though about her choice of the gumboots with the outfit though.

And this darling shot is Lily giving her best smile, whenever I ask her to smile for the camera she does this, which is a "pig smile". I have no idea why!!!

Floral Funksters Flares

I looove the fabric on these pockets, it is so bright and funky and the colours are just gorgeous!!! It comes from the lovely Leah at Kidz in Cloth *mwah* thanks Leah, you are a gem as always!!!
It has come up really really well on these little size 1 flares, I've added some lovely yellow ric rac to the pockets to just give them that finishing touch.

Live tonight at 9pm along with a couple of other things.
